Best Board Game Round-Up

At MMGaming we don’t just draw the line at video games. We’re geeks through and through and something we have slowly but surely be gaining a profound appreciation of over the past few years is Board Games. So it seems reasonable that now we have developed a decent repertoire of board games, that we could start reviewing them in the same way we video games. So, after my recent reviews of One Night Ultimate Werewolf and Mage Wars, I have decided that instead of playing a slow game of catch-up with all the numerous board games I have enjoyed in recent years I thought I would provide a slightly quick-ish run down of the remaining 3 games in my Top 5, with Mage Wars and One Night fairly comfortable near the top. Whilst naming my top 5 is significantly harder than naming those two games as some of my favourites, I feel I am fairly happy with the selection I have made: Cosmic Encounter, Dead of Winter and Codenames.

One Night Ultimate Werewolf board game review – If you have to kill me, at least kill him too

One Night Ultimate Werewolf and the subsequent One Night Ultimate Vampire are both, together (because they are not entirely separate games), easily within my top 3 board games of all time and have been sitting there proudly ever since they soared there so effortlessly.

Funemployed!

Hey team! Seb, myself and a couple of other friends gathered together online to play some Funemployed on Tabletop Simulator. We now live all the way across the world so don’t have the luxury of playing our physical board games. This is the first time we have tried Tabletop Simulator and it was a reasonably seamless experience, but we will see how difficult things can get with more complicated games! Check it out —>

Mage Wars Board Game review – Bro, do you even board control?

At MMGaming we don’t just draw the line at video games. We’re geeks through and through and something we have slowly but surely be gaining a profound appreciation of over the past few years is Board Games. So it seems reasonable that now we have developed a decent repertoire of board games, that we could start reviewing them in the same way we video games. Mage Wars by Arcane Wonders is one of the most stand out games I’ve ever played. Easily in my top 5, certainly in my top 3 and maybe even approaching the top spot of all the board games I’ve ever played. It’s no surprise really then that the game has been nominated for and won numerous awards since its release in 2012.

Neptune’s Pride 2 Journal (Part 4 of 4) – The Docco Swarm

Early in 2013 me and my friends played a closed game of Neptune’s Pride 2: Triton, before even the glorious saga that was the war of the Space Bears. During the surprisingly brief, two-week-long, game I once again kept a journal of the exploits of my Empire in a rise and fall of epic proportions. Despite it now being two years later, I kept all my materials and have finally decided that the time is ripe to post the story. This journal log is the final part of four, but you can read the previous entries here, here and here
