Endweek News
You will have, obviously noticed that last week we had no news on Sunday and that this week we actually had no news on Wednesday either. And there are very good reasons for both of these things. As you might be aware I am in the middle of my exam period and I'm finding it a little more difficult to make the time to do the news. But don't worry, after next week things ought to return to pretty much normal as both me and Tim will be finished.
And so we'll need to come up with an excuse other than "We are lazy sons-of-bitches!"
Also, we are still playing around with our new "4 posts per week" system and have decided to only have one session of news on most weeks. While you might still see some Midweek News at some point in the future, for now we are going to be doing two reviews a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays. Anyway, "reasons" over! Let's see what's been happening in the world of video games for the last two weeks.
Why the Mass Effect 3 ending is absolutely bullshit!
Now hopefully you've already read my actual review of Mass Effect 3 (if not click here) and understand that I loved the game. Seriously, if that game were a girl I would have proposed the moment it turned up on my doorstep. Hell, despite it being a game I did almost take all my clothes off... (I managed to regain control after I got my jeans off).
That said, I, unfortunately, fall into the group of people who believe that the ending of ME3 was, without a doubt, awful. Had it not been different the game would have been, pretty much, perfection. On their own though, the ending/s were quite simply horrible. No matter how cliché it is to say so, it's true.
This article will endeavour to explain just why the endings are so bad. Pretty much everything I say here has been said all around the internet, but I have to say, I came up with several of the arguments on my own before I even started to look around for other people's opinions. Plus I want to make it clear now this article contains MANY SPOILERS! I have to talk about the ending in order to explain why it sucked...
Diablo III – First Impressions
With the open beta now finished the release date could not come sooner. For those of you that managed to get a taste of the beta you probably feel the same way, but for those that didn't get around to playing it I'm here to help. My opinion should be taken with a pinch of salt as I haven't actually played either of the previous games. With this is mind I won’t be able to make any comparisons to the previous games. Without further delay I bring to you my impressions of Diablo III.
Song of the Week – Mass Effect dubstepz
It's that time of the week again folks. Actually, I've been wanting to say something about that... But first let's get the tunes going!
This week I've got two things to offer you! First I have some official Bioware Dubstep! Bioware stuck pieces of footage from a variety of their trailers for Mass Effect 3 and then put some rather cool wubwubwub over the top of it. Excellent! The bad news on that score is that I couldn't find the video on Youtube, so I can only provide you with a link to that. So as a peace offering I chose one of the Mass Effect dubsteps on Youtube and have embedded that instead! Two pieces of music! You lucky thing you!
Skyrim – The Siege of Markarth
In order to make up for the seriousness of the last post, after all we don't like to be serious in the Gaming business, here is another epic Skyrim battle created by Tyrannicon for the Skyrim Machinima theatre. Named "The Siege of Markarth" the video is 8 minutes long and just as epic and awesome as the last one, definitely worth a look.
Even if you aren't into Skyrim...
Song of the Week – I’m Commander Shepard, the man with the method
Another of MMGaming's favourite artist's Dan Bull is back with this week's Song of the Week. This weeks Song of the Week is another Epic Rap and this time features Mass Effect 1 and 2, rather topical considering the recent release of Mass Effect 3.
Topical, funny, interesting. BOOM!
Halo: The Fallen
Today's batch of awesome is yet another Halo fan-film. This time centred around some Marines (not even ODSTs) and featuring some rather impressively done Grunts, Jackels, Elites and Hunters it's yet another nod of the head to the Halo fan community which has never stopped shy of impressing me.
Actually the short movie has yet to be released and what I've watched was just the prologue. Despite that though, The Fallen is definitely impressive and very cool, despite the meagre budget of $200.
MMO Burnout – When Shinies Aren’t So Shiny
For those of you are MMORPG gamers, or who have been, I wonder if you've ever felt that the genre wasn't for you anymore. What happens when that new dungeon just doesn't look interesting enough to be worth grinding out the 2.4% chance of getting that BIS* trinket? What is it like when the reputation level just isn't that high of a priority and your quest log looks more like a list of household chores than an afternoon/weekend of good heroic times?
That, good people, is exactly what my question is... right now.
