RIVE Review – Tank Bullet Death Trap

RIVE is the newly released action platform sidescrolling bullet-hell from the developers Two Tribes. If that sounds like a mouthful of buzzwords… well you would be right. However this doesn’t mean that RIVE gets bogged down in all of these elements. In fact, RIVE is a rather impressive little game

Dead Space 3 review – Dead… SPAAAAAAACE!

This is an article I was putting off for a while because I was struggling to get to a stage where I felt I had done “enough” to produce a review. The definition of “enough” varies from game to game from simply putting in a certain number of hours to actually completing the game depending on how much I am enjoying the game. The point comes down to the fact that I always try to give every game I play a fair shot and to not dismiss them out of hand. However, sometimes it becomes increasingly difficult to reach that moment of “right I’ve played enough now!” With Dead Space 3 I went through some serious pains in order to give it what I felt was a “fair shot”, and it was only when I realised that I was actually going through “pains” in order to play it that I decided that life was too short and stopped a good few chapters before the end.

Grand Theft Auto V review – At least we don’t have to go bowling…

What is there to say about Grand Theft Auto 5, by Rockstar Games, which has not been said already? Its release was a record-breaking one, making so much money so extremely quickly that the comparison to the Avengers movie seems particularly apt, making well over $1 billion which is an insane figure no matter which way you slice it. According to Wikipedia the game’s sales figures are only topped by the truly ridiculous giants of games like Minecraft and Tetris. It’s a game which received wide-spread acclaim and approval, pretty much all of it entirely deserving. As such, writing a review for it feels more than a little tricky considering that I’m just going to be adding more praise on top of an already too-big mountain of praise. It feels like the exact opposite situation of the “pissing-into-a-sea-of-piss” metaphor.

Hitman Absolution review – If you were a real Assassin you’d SUCK!

Hitman is a game with what I believe is a great pedigree.  The most recent game before Absolution, Blood Money, was praised and lauded by just about everyone so with that sort of background Absolution has both a lot to live up to and a lot of fans to please. Made by IO Interactive you play as the bald but awesome assassin Agent 47 (awesome because he is always SUITED UP!). The game plays out as a 3rd person shooter with a heavy focus on stealth, but it still manages to remain an intense and convincing shooter. In this game Agent 47 at the start is sent after his own handler who has, I understand in the previous game, betrayed the agency that 47 works for and so 47 is sent to kill her. After the intro mission in which you do indeed kill Diana the game follows Agent 47 as he tries to protect a young girl who, for some reason explained later in the game, everyone wants their hands on. As the primary people who want Victoria are the very same agency 47 works for he has to go against his boss and his own company and goes rogue to protect the girl.

Video Mondaily – Dance with your Dead

Hey folks! Remember us? Well we are not actually dead, despite our most recent post  being well over a week ago and having only posted three times across January. What can I say, we were all enjoying the festive spirit of Winter-een-Mas with much gaming and not so much of the writing about gaming… Well, I will say that we are actually still very much alive and kicking and we will be kicking back into gear soon, this week hopefully!

Endweek News – Assassin’s Creed lawsuit not quite finished yet, What is this E3 thing?, a new Gears of War and some truly awesome videos!

It is that time of week where once again I delve into the grim and gritty business of video game news. It’s a cut-throat world out there, a game eat game world. A world in which only the fittest and most awesome games survive. And Call of Duty of course (OOoooh! ZING!). But seriously, it’s not really that bad (well not for everyone) and we’ve got some pretty interesting bits and pieces of news to regale you with today. Also I want to make it clear that the above video is indeed sort of relevant to this post as you shall find out later (if you read through this!) So, what’s new Gamers?

Endweek News – A writer sues Ubisoft, Halo 4 get’s a release date, Trailers for God of War and 0x10c are everywhere and Arkham City content get’s teased

Once again (due to the excuses I lined out last week) I again failed to post any Midweek News this past week. As well as that, this session of Endweek News was hastily researched and thrown together, you’ll just have to forgive me for these things as I have been rather busy. That said most of the news from this past week is actually trailers and other videos, so less reading for you guys. I will say no more on it but jump straight into the news!

Endweek News (unfortunately late) – Much releases and trailers, some early 0x10c screenshots, a new Borderlands character and some Bullshit Excuses

A number of you might have noticed the conspicuous absence of any Midweek News this past week. Well I fear those sharp-eyed amongst you to have spotted that will probably spot similar things again over the coming weeks due to a number of excuses that we at MMGaming have. Very good excuses actually, I’ll have you know! We can’t spend all our time playing games and talking about them… Ye gods! What the hell am I saying?!? Levity aside, it’s actually true. Nick and Josh both have commitments outside of the world of gaming which make the time they can spend on MMGaming fairly limited and me and Tim have now, once again, entered that foul time period known to all in University… Yes my friends we are once again preparing for exams and Tim at least won’t be posting AT ALL while doing so. Coincidentally we both finish on the 14th of May so you should see a return to normal around then.

Overhaul

Hey folks! You may be wondering why things have been slowing down of late in regards to reviews/news and other shenanigans and I just want to inform ya’ll to our plans. While we have been receiving steady viewership (thanks guys!) we are looking to overhaul the site into something more consistent and high quality. With that in mind there is going to be a lot of changes coming in over the next couple of weeks and as a result posts will be sparse. Yet have no fear! Things are on the up and we hope it will stay that way. Keep an eye on us and you won’t be disappointed! Regards, The MMGaming Team   EDIT: We are also considering changing to a Joomla layout (from the current WordPress layout) which might result in some downtime while we mess around to get it working. If the site isn’t up for any reason just assume that we are working on it and come back in a couple of hours!

Air Buccaneers – Alpha gameplay trailer

If you’ve been needing any encouragement to try out the rather wonderful team-based mutliplayer Air Buccaneers then you should definitely check the trailer after the jump, which shows you some of the gameplay and what the game looks like. Overall it does look really rather excellent and, as Tim found out during one of the Fans vs Devs battles that Ludocraft have hosted, the game is really good fun. It is a team game of course and requires working together, which will always be a problem with people from the internet, but I think this game is a real winner and you should definitely have a think about giving it a try!
