Vermintide review – Ahm not a raaaaat!

Have you and your friends ever done that thing? Y’know, it’s later in the evening when someone says “man I kind of want to play some co-op games!” Then there’s the inevitable struggle to find something everybody enjoys and, more importantly, owns. Invariably, in these situations one ends up browsing Steam and the web for lists of the “best multiplayer games” so that you can avoid playing hours of Garry’s Mod (which, let’s be fair, tends to only be amusing in short stints). Every single one of these lists almost always makes some mention of Left 4 Dead and how it is a quintessential multiplayer and co-op experience (both local and remote). So it has always confused me how it seems nobody has really quite captured the same feeling of the games. Well, look no further friends, because Warhammer *hurrrk* The End Times *hurrrk* Vermintide does actually more than just come close. Aside from the silliness of having two subtitles (when really just “Vermintide” suffices) the game does so much right that I feel the need to say that it is definitely more than just a carbon copy of L4D.

Overcooked! Review – Fun boiled into its tastiest co-op form

    Overcooked! (not to be confused with Overwatch, which I wrote half this review typing) is a relatively simple game. You are a chef in a kitchen. The first level has you and up to 3 other chef buddies performing a number of simple actions. Picking up vegetables from a magic storage block, chopping said vegetables on a chopping board, placing the required vegetables in a pot, allowing the pot to cook to completion, place created soup onto a plate, serve plate via serving hatch, wash plates, repeat ad infitium. Each of these actions in a simple one button click to perform… So why is this game so good?

Our Thoughts On: Legend of Dungeon – Sidescrolling dungeon delving

Legend of Dungeon is a relatively new indie game coming from the folks at Robot Loves Kitty. It’s described as a “4 Player Co-op Rogue-Like-like Beat’em’up” and is vaguely reminiscent of games like Dungeons of Dredmor. However, it also comes with a twist on the standard isometric viewpoint of the dungeon delving rogue-like game in it’s graphical and gameplay style as you explore the dungeon in which you are placed from a side-scrolling perspective. With random dungeons, loots, enemies and magics, Tim has provided us with his “My Thoughts On” the game which you can check out after the jump!

Video Mondaily – Lots of Torchlight 2

Hey folks! Yeah we’re finally back after over two weeks of not posting we ought to be getting back into the game (pun intended). Seriously though the past few weeks have been a mixture of distractions, everyone being busy and most of us being lazy and so we haven’t been posting, I know it’s been ever longer than that since we’ve had some News, but hey… I was in holiday mode! Seriously though we ought to be getting back into the posting business properly round about now as we have all now settled into our respective Uni’s and are ready to work on things both Work and Game wise. Just as importantly we are already getting some great videos onto Youtube for you to check out! And today we have a rather nice little selection of videos for you to check out. Gary and Tim were lucky enough to start playing Torchlight 2, the top down RPG similar to Diablo 3, from Runic Games and have already created a number of cool little videos. Each video features a different encounter or a different challenge and most are conducted with the two of them mostly muddling their way through! Endweek News – Awesome Gameplay of Dishonored, Concept Art of Episode 3, some Halo 4 stuff, Meeting the Pyro and the release date of Guild Wars 2

Another week has passed, I hope that for you it was more productive than mine was. The biggest news that you can expect from me this week is that I completed Deus Ex: Human Revolution on Xbox and despite constantly saving and being more careful than a very careful thing I managed to set off a bloody alarm at SOME point during the game without noticing and thus missed out on an extra 100 achievement points for my gamer-score. Honestly, I think that has thrown me into a bad mood and I… Oh you’re here for some REAL news? I forgot that this Deus Ex stuff wasn’t important… So what is important eh? What important shiz has been happiziling?

Endweek News (unfortunately late) – Much releases and trailers, some early 0x10c screenshots, a new Borderlands character and some Bullshit Excuses

A number of you might have noticed the conspicuous absence of any Midweek News this past week. Well I fear those sharp-eyed amongst you to have spotted that will probably spot similar things again over the coming weeks due to a number of excuses that we at MMGaming have. Very good excuses actually, I’ll have you know! We can’t spend all our time playing games and talking about them… Ye gods! What the hell am I saying?!? Levity aside, it’s actually true. Nick and Josh both have commitments outside of the world of gaming which make the time they can spend on MMGaming fairly limited and me and Tim have now, once again, entered that foul time period known to all in University… Yes my friends we are once again preparing for exams and Tim at least won’t be posting AT ALL while doing so. Coincidentally we both finish on the 14th of May so you should see a return to normal around then.

Diablo 3 to launch with no PvP

Lead designer of upcoming Diablo 3, Jay Wilson, has officially announced, with the full might of Blizzard behind him that Diablo 3 will be releasing without it’s Player versus Player mode. He said that essentially it was not working to the standards that they had set themselves and that delaying the game purely for the PvP would ruin the release for an awful lot of people (like me) who are looking forward to the co-op and single-player campaigns. I imagine that all is not lost and that PvP will be released as (hopefully free) DLC at some point in the near future after the games release. But yeah, it would seem that with everything else “just about complete” the PvP was not yet quite up to the same standard as the rest of the game and- Hang on…
