Sea of Thieves review – Why is the purpose of games always gone?!

Sea of Thieves by Rare is a game all about wish fulfillment of the highest order. It’s also one of those rare (heh) flashes of brilliant game design where someone has seen a niche in the market which isn’t being properly filled and so Rare have managed to jump into the gap and fill it. Right out of the gate it does something which a few other games have sort of had a dalliance with, but nobody managed to do quite right until now.

Endweek News – Diablo patches, Updates and Release Dates and not really very much happening

It is unfortunate that I left at the most inopportune moment for a holiday… I left two weeks ago right in the middle of E3 and thus I missed out on most of what was going on AND I wasn’t able to post anything about it. I mean I also wasn’t here for last week’s news but that seems less important in comparison to learning about E3. However I am back now and I will once again dispense wisdom and knowledge to the masses every Sunday (or thereabouts) in the form of news of the world of video games! I might even summon the courage to look back a couple of weeks and sift through all the various updates and exciting things from E3 to give you our own highlights of this years expo… But that is just as possible to not happen, we will have to wait and see. It’s an interesting point as well that with the massive frenzy of news that was E3 the video game world has quietened down a little bit recently as they try and take a few deep breaths to steady themselves. I can understand really, the build-up to E3 followed by the massive out-pouring of news… Well I’m surprised there’s really any news at all already! But let’s see what’s been going on shall we?

Minecraft Review – LEGO for Adults without the pain of stepping on the bricks

Well Minecraft is, as of last November, officially a game and as such it seems that other gaming websites used this as the perfect opportunity to review it. We did consider jumping on this particular bandwagon but don’t say MMGaming is no different to other Gaming websites because we are only doing it now… With absolutely no reason to whatsoever. Okay honestly we did mean to post this review way-back-when Minecraft first became a game but due to a combination of laziness and no other opportunity to do so we are only posting it now. So welcome to world’s laziest review of the world’s biggest “Indie” game Minecraft. And those quotation marks are there because Mojang had, even prior to Minecraft’s “release”, sold over 4 million copies… which is more than a fair few big, mainstream games I could care to mention.

Midweek News – Guild Wars swapping Realms, Some DLC, Some Trailers and our Song of the Week!

Interesting news seem to be a little slow lately so I have decided (seeing as I missed last Sunday) to include MMGaming’s Song of the Week in this news post. Why news has been slow I can’t really say but I’m going to assume it’s to do with either me not picking up on interesting stuff or that there is a sort of lull in news now that PAX East is over. Guess we just need to wait to see if it picks up again.

Endweek News – Gods and Kings, Mass Effect 3 gets some delicious DLC, Assassins Creed 3 shenanigans and Relationships are Tricky…

I write this news post in the early hours of the morning as it was meant to be up yesterday. I do promise that I will try and be more punctual about these but the end of lectures and classes at University have put me in a holiday/lazy mood. Which when combined with my inherent laziness is difficult to overcome. However, let’s crack on and do the news from the last couple of days. What is going on in the gaming world?

Dead Island DLC

Some new DLC for Dead Island will be hitting the Island on the 1st of February. Apparently featuring the main game’s original antagonist, Colonel Ryder White, it makes for an interesting idea for some DLC. Perhaps it’s a prequel of some sort… I don’t know enough about Dead Island to be able to say… What I do know, is that there is a trailer, it’s pretty cool and the DLC will probably be full of even more awesome and gruesome bashing and slashing of zombies to bits. And disembowelling. And electrocuting. And shooting. Hell how many ways are there to actually KILL a zombie?!?
