Ghost of a Tale Written and Video Impressions – Wee, sleekit, cow’rin, tim’rous beastie

Hi folks! You may have noticed we have a schedule now, of course we never stick to a schedule but we certainly do try. This week Seb checks out the indie game Ghost of a Tale. The graphics and art style are super awesome but Seb doesn’t seem too impressed with the stealth mechanics. Anyway, have a look and see if it’s something you want to keep on your radar! Battlerite Early Access Impressions – Oh please no, take anything you want.. anything… just not my soul!

Here we are again. It’s like my gaming life has come full circle. Things started off  in 2009 when I was invited in to the League of Legends alpha. At the time LoL was pretty unknown, but since it was free I managed to convince a few of my friends to play. As the years went by we played more, and more, and more, and more. And suddenly its 2014, ALL of my friends played LoL and very regularly and we had done so for the best part of 5 years. LoL had the perfect mix of strategy, intuition, skill and grind that ticked all the boxes for an enjoyable evening of gaming. The biggest draw for me, towards the end was playing with all my friends. I grew tired of the toxic community and as such started only playing with my friends, and that gradually decreased my playing time until I stopped completely. Then came along Battlerite.

Factorio Impressions – Machines building machines! How perverse.

It can often be quite difficult determining whether a game is the sort of thing one will enjoy or not. Two of the best ways of doing it are to either find a reviewer with decent taste (so really you should definitely accept my ratings as gospel) or to look at review aggregates, in order to see what the Hive Mind thinks. Looking at the Steam reviews for Factorio is how me and Tim started. “Overwhelmingly Positive” doesn’t really begin to describe the state of affairs of the game. Of 8100 reviews (at the time of writing), 100 are negative, providing what is damned close to a 99% approval rating. And then if you look at the top negative reviews they all start with something along the lines of “I love this game, I just have a niggle that is probably due to it being Early Access”. And it IS Early Access. That was a large part of my initial hesitation in getting the game. There are way too many games which wear the banner of Early Access as an excuse for being completely unfinished and damned near unplayable. Despite that, it seemed to basically hit the ground running with close enough to make no difference 100% of people enjoying it. So me and Tim got copies and I’ll be damned if I’m not just another sheep following the herd because I also think it’s absolutely fucking fabulous.

Dragon’s Dogma Story Trailer

Capcom have announced a release date for their upcoming fantasy RPG Dragon’s Dogma. Which looks an awful lot like Dragon Age and has a similar name to boot! Yeah, I don’t really know much about it. I can only tell you right now that it’s due out on May 22nd in North America and a few days later on the 25th in Europe. In fairness I’m not the only one who doesn’t know much about this game, in fact I only heard of it briefly when it was announced and now I’ve seen it’s relatively cool trailer which you can see after the jump.
