Star Wars Battlefront Beta impressions- Unimpressive. Most unimpressive.

Over the past few days I spent a little while playing the Beta for the brand new Star Wars Battlefront (on the PS4), a reboot of an older and much-beloved series of games. Battlefront 2 was actually a game I, along with many others, enjoyed immensely and so naturally everyone was very disappointed that LucasArts never really seemed to want to develop another one. Sure every couple of years there would be rumours of another Battlefront in the works, but nothing ever really came to light until Disney bought the rights to Star Wars a couple of years back and instantly EA announced that they would be using one of their many minions (in this case DICE, of Battlefield fame) to make a new Battlefront. Naturally everyone immediately creamed their pants before remembering EA’s track record with things like this but we could only sit patiently and hope for the best.

StarMade Preview – SPAAAAAACE!!

Ah.  It’s good to be back in the saddle and today I bring news of my week playing the Steam Greenlight hopeful StarMade.  “But what IS StarMade?  Can I spread it on my toast?” you may ask in a curiously attractive, yet nasal voice.  Well, beautiful internet person, let me tell (and show) you all about it after the obligatory bump.

Our Thoughts On: Symphony

On Monday of this week developer Empty Clip Studios published the casual indie game Symphony. The game is similar in a way to Audiosurf in that the game is based around importing your own music from your computer into the game and then playing the game along with that music. It’s a simple enough premise where you play as a small ship defending and arena against waves of enemies where the speed and intensity of the enemy waves is determined by the speed and intensity of the music. It’s masterfully done and is an absolute joy to play. We thought that the game would come across better with a video review rather than a written review so I have created a My Thoughts On: Symphony video for you all to enjoy. I play through three of my songs in the game and have a great time doing so. I would absolutely recommend you check out the video to sell yourself on the game because you should then head over to Desura or Steam to buy it! Check the video after the jump!

Endweek News – Assassin’s Creed lawsuit not quite finished yet, What is this E3 thing?, a new Gears of War and some truly awesome videos!

It is that time of week where once again I delve into the grim and gritty business of video game news. It’s a cut-throat world out there, a game eat game world. A world in which only the fittest and most awesome games survive. And Call of Duty of course (OOoooh! ZING!). But seriously, it’s not really that bad (well not for everyone) and we’ve got some pretty interesting bits and pieces of news to regale you with today. Also I want to make it clear that the above video is indeed sort of relevant to this post as you shall find out later (if you read through this!) So, what’s new Gamers?

Endweek News (unfortunately late) – Much releases and trailers, some early 0x10c screenshots, a new Borderlands character and some Bullshit Excuses

A number of you might have noticed the conspicuous absence of any Midweek News this past week. Well I fear those sharp-eyed amongst you to have spotted that will probably spot similar things again over the coming weeks due to a number of excuses that we at MMGaming have. Very good excuses actually, I’ll have you know! We can’t spend all our time playing games and talking about them… Ye gods! What the hell am I saying?!? Levity aside, it’s actually true. Nick and Josh both have commitments outside of the world of gaming which make the time they can spend on MMGaming fairly limited and me and Tim have now, once again, entered that foul time period known to all in University… Yes my friends we are once again preparing for exams and Tim at least won’t be posting AT ALL while doing so. Coincidentally we both finish on the 14th of May so you should see a return to normal around then.

SWTOR – Free Weekends!

Bioware and EA have announced that Star Wars: The Old Republic will be having a number of “Free Weekends” in the future, with the first being from ““Thursday, March 15 at 12:01AM CT through Monday, March 19 at 2:00AM CT.” As far as I can make out this means that from TOMORROW (which is Friday, Bioware, just saying) at 6:00am until Monday at 8:00am people will be able to try out SWTOR for free.

Song of the Week – Cello Wars

I feel a great disturbance in the force. As if something awesome is fast approaching and there is nothing we can do to stop it… I fear it’s going to be Legen wait-for-it-until-you-hear-this-piece-of-music DARY! Legendary! Today something that I’ve never believed was possible has happened. Today, someone made a cover of some of the Star Wars music that is as awesome as the original. I know guys! I can already hear you yelling that the original soundtrack is some of the most awesome music in existence and changing it in any way is to make it worse. And yet somehow… These guys… The Piano Guys have done just that. Trust me right now when I say this is unbelievably awesome and you should watch this right now…
