The MMGaming Awards – 2016

2015 was a big year in video games. Several massive releases each of which several were genuinely incredible. Well, rather than sating us, we were only provided with a hunger, nay a NEED, for more… Unfortunately though it seems that the gaming industry’s recovery period is at least a year because 2016 was mostly, let’s face it, pretty disappointing. I guess it’s only fitting that the games of 2016 would be a bit subpar given how shitty everything else was this year. I mean seriously… This is legit a meme now… 2016 was ACTUALLY cursed? What the heck?

Terraria and Tequila

So, this has been a long time coming. We actually recorded T&T at some-point mid/ate August in 2015, released a quick trailer around October and then just left it to sit and collect dust for a whole year. However, it is FINALLY here. Terraria and Tequila! Tim and Seb play a drinking game where every time you die in game we have to have a shot of Tequila (or a swig of fucking awful Tequila-infused beer). There’s a lot of dying, a lot of shots and a lot of cursing. Definitely well worth a watch ladies and gents! Plus, if you could nip over to Youtube and hit that Updoot and/or Subscribe button we’d really appreciate it.

The MMGaming Awards – 2015

Can you feel the anticipation in the air? The excitement? That general tension and jostling for position and prestige which comes along with the Annual MMGaming Awards. Arguably the most prestigious award scheme in existence (because nobody else quite gets it right half the time). As before this post is liable to be a bit late but I personally have always thought it makes more sense to actually post it after the year is over, to give everyone a fair chance. Also, admittedly last year we did not provide an Awards post (and we received several angry letters from EA who thought they had it in the bag for Dragon Age: Inquisition) but this was actually primarily due to my own reluctance to write an awards post for a year in which I had played practically none of the big releases. At the time this was due to my lack of a machine which could play any of the newest games, however, now with a new gaming rig AND a PS4 I suddenly find myself in a position where I can once again start to know what I am talking about. So while 2014 was a bust, let us speak of it no further and immediately dive into the MMGaming Awards for 2015!

Neptune’s Pride 2 Journal (Part 4 of 4) – The Docco Swarm

Early in 2013 me and my friends played a closed game of Neptune’s Pride 2: Triton, before even the glorious saga that was the war of the Space Bears. During the surprisingly brief, two-week-long, game I once again kept a journal of the exploits of my Empire in a rise and fall of epic proportions. Despite it now being two years later, I kept all my materials and have finally decided that the time is ripe to post the story. This journal log is the final part of four, but you can read the previous entries here, here and here

Video Mondaily – Tim and Seb Play Rome 2

As will hopefully become more and more clear over the coming year, I have a new computer, and this has sort of breathed a new lease of life into MMGaming. We are making plans, making videos, starting to stream with increasing regularity (both on Twitch and on Youtube) and, most importantly we are playing more games. Well, that latter may not be true for Tim, but it is certainly true for me! As I now have a computer which can actually run games properly I am determined to make the most of it and one of the things which I was quick to jump into was Rome 2, a game I was gifted on release but which could not run on my old laptop. Well, fear not folks, because after a long wait I have finally started my campaign, and have also started a multiplayer one with Tim as well! Check after the jump!

Video Mondaily – The Forest Begins

“The Forest is an open world survival horror game currently in development for PC. Build, explore, survive in this terrifying first person survival horror simulator.” At least, that’s the tagline for The Forest by Endnight Games. What they weren’t counting on apparently was Tim being an absolute bad-ass and totally destroying the horrifying and evil denizens of the game. It’s hilarious, it’s awesome and it shows off an alpha version of a game which looks like it has a tonne of potential to be both amazing and properly scary. Check it out after the jump!

The MMGaming Awards – 2013

This is a post which usually comes around the first week of January, however I personally decided to postpone it for a little longer because there was one game which I had yet to play but knew I would be playing relatively soon. It took a bit longer than expected to finally get around to playing said game, but it was worth it because it does factor rather massively into the running of this year’s MMGaming Game Awards. As always, people are now raising eyes and faces to the sky, hearts in mouths and stomachs where the heart used to be, ready to hear what are surely the most prestigious and most awaited awards every year. Despite the late arrival of the MMGaming Game Awards, everyone from the smallest to the biggest of devs knows that it is big and important and they were all willing to wait as long as necessary with the hopes of winning one of the awards. Anyway, it is now time to get down to business and (defeat the hun) give our opinions on some of the best and brightest of the good year 2013. Let’s get to it!

Video Mondaily – Headshots and Trenches in Heroes of Stalingrad

Well here’s a game we haven’t heard from in a while, but it’s back and on Tim’s Twitch channel no less. Yes it is that toughest of World War 2 shooters, Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad. Since we reviewed it way back in 2011 none of us at MMGaming have really played much of Red Orchestra 2, which is a shame because it is indeed a fine game full of intense combat which has nowhere near the publicity or spread it really deserves. Tim has now rectified this by having a streaming session with the realistic FPS created by Tripwire Interactive and has even saved a couple of the best moments of his time spent playing it for your viewing pleasure. If you fancy a quick laugh and a quick example of gameplay why not check after the jump to watch a surprising amount of ownage in what is a ridiculously difficult game!

The Banner Saga: Factions – Impressions

The Banner Saga is described as a role-playing, turn based strategy created by Stoic Games. The single player game is actually still in the process of being developed by the team at Stoic and utilising Kickstarter as a means of obtaining funds. As a basic description of the gameplay it appears to be an interesting and relatively unique style of RTS in which you choose a team of Viking-esque soldiers and then utilise your team on a grid-battlefield, moving a unit per turn switching between both sides. Currently, as I say, the singleplayer has not been released. However, the free-to-play online multiplayer portion of the game: Factions has recently been released and is available for download from both Steam and the game’s official website. Tim has now taken the opportunity to give us a look at the gameplay and style of The Banner Saga in an impressions video which you can find after the jump. With a rather nice graphics style and a pretty cool gameplay mechanic (not to mention it’s free) The Banner Saga: Factions is certainly worth looking at in our video!

Video Tue-daily – What, what? In the butt? No… IN THE FACE!!

So, this is yesterday’s content… Oops… Oh well! We are waaay behind schedule anyway so who really cares? Anyway this weeks featured video from the Youtube channel is a brief League of Legends clip which is absolutely worth the watch. What starts of as the opening of a standard League of Legends game with joking between MMGaming’s Tim and some of the other members of the Glasgow Highlanders (GlaLnd is the Ranked Team us MMGamers are part of). What starts off as what is an amusing exchange quickly turns into one of the reasons why Tim is an absolute pro at LoL and a complete hero. If you doubt me watch the video and enjoy the absolute carnage!
