Grand Theft Auto V review – At least we don’t have to go bowling…

What is there to say about Grand Theft Auto 5, by Rockstar Games, which has not been said already? Its release was a record-breaking one, making so much money so extremely quickly that the comparison to the Avengers movie seems particularly apt, making well over $1 billion which is an insane figure no matter which way you slice it. According to Wikipedia the game’s sales figures are only topped by the truly ridiculous giants of games like Minecraft and Tetris. It’s a game which received wide-spread acclaim and approval, pretty much all of it entirely deserving. As such, writing a review for it feels more than a little tricky considering that I’m just going to be adding more praise on top of an already too-big mountain of praise. It feels like the exact opposite situation of the “pissing-into-a-sea-of-piss” metaphor.

Retrospectacles: Assassin’s Creed 3 – Everybody makes mistakes

Assassin’s Creed is a series that has always and will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s hard for me to say what exactly it is about the series that so hooked me way back when I was jumping about as Altair, but it’s irrelevant because it happened. Since AC2 I have counted Assassin’s Creed as my second favourite video game series of all time (behind an obvious front-runner), beating out even my love of Halo and the games made by Telltale Games.

Oldweek News – Seb’s Top 5 from the past

Hey everyone! THIS IS NOT THE ENDWEEK NEWS! In fact I probably shouldn’t even post this… This was a news post I started work on for the last week in February. It was going to contain an apology for not keeping up with the news, despite my promises to myself and to you guys that I would. Even with the new “Seb’s Top 5” system I haven’t been bothering to write a news article at all. This is something I need to deal with and I am currently looking into the possibility of turning it into a weekly video instead, to try and MAKE myself do it. ANYWAY. The reason I am actually posting this is because I had all of what is below here written and sorted for about two months and it just didn’t seem quite right to simply delete and throw it all away. However, it IS now two months old and so doesn’t really count as news any more. I just didn’t want what I have to go to waste and so I am posting it anyway. Hopefully it’s still entertaining enough that it might make for a good read.

Endweek News – Seb’s Top Five

Welcome folks, welcome to the Endweek News! This is your weekly segment of SOME things gaming. I say “some” things because, frankly, I have neither the time nor the botheredness to actually post everything of gaming related interest every week and so I will be trimming off the fat and the sliiiightly less interesting stories in favour of the Top Five stories of the week! Welcome to the Endweek News – Seb’s Top Five! So I was ill over the weekend and am only just now putting the finishing touches on this and posting it… Trust me when I say other than a few little things this was ready to be posted on Sunday. Apologies for the poor start.

The MMGaming Awards – 2012

The world awaits with bated breath as we at MMGaming have been considering the various awards we would like to hand out at this years MGA (MMGaming Gaming Awards): the more prestigious version of the VGA. All across the globe the big game companies are staring at their browsers, just waiting to see if their game will be forever immortalized in our hearts and minds. Joking aside though, it is indeed time for us to look back at 2012 and consider what the highlights, and possible low-lights (if that is indeed a word), of the year were! Now while we do put a fair amount of thought into the various awards (even those we include only as a way of amusing both you and ourselves) when it comes to the bigger and more serious things the MMGamers have an unfortunate tendency to not agree on who ought to be winning. That’s why that in the following, very prestigious, very formal and serious award ceremony (done via a post on the internet) some of the awards might have input from more than one of us, explaining why THIS particular game should win THIS particular award. Naturally you should be listening to me here and not the others, of course… Anyway, without any further ado I hereby welcome you to the MMGaming Game Awards!

Assassin’s Creed 3 review – The Brits Bite Back!

I had to mentally prepare myself before playing Assassin’s Creed 3. Partially because this is the latest instalment in one of my favourite series of video games (and I am such a fan-boy for it it’s not even funny) but also because I had to gear myself up for playing through a game where all the enemies are British, it just doesn’t sit well for some reason. Seriously, I would really like a game in which we go around actually killing Americans for once, I figure that something quite so unique would be bound to turn a few heads. Anyway, witticisms aside I do feel I ought to say that, minus the fact that I was always very aware that every single redcoat I killed was a fellow tea-drinker, the game honestly doesn’t do quite as much English bashing as I was expecting. Only about as much as is necessary to remind you that this was a period and place where the English weren’t very popular (much like Glasgow during the world-cup actually). In fact if, like me, you felt the need to read anything in the database that is written in game by the veeeery English, and veeeery cynical, Shuan Hastings (voiced by Danny Wallace) you will quickly see that the developers had more than a few digs at both America and the American Revolution itself (pity about 99% of gamers probably won’t read them, but I digress).

Catch-Up News – Catching up from a time long since past…

I have no excuses of any real merit as to why I have not posted any News for the last two months and a half. Minus a week that I spent on Holiday without internet and the few days it took to move into my new student flat I really could have been posting Endweek News without any real issues. Seeing as it has actually been over a month since I last posted any form of News the prospect of posting EVERY piece of interesting News during that time makes me go pale with terror. I’ve posted long News posts before BUT I would very much rather avoid having to write out 10,000 words which, let’s be honest here, few people would ever struggle through (no matter how interesting the content). Instead, I did have a few tidbits I had collected with the intention of posting (but never got round to it) from in between our last post (on the 6th) and the present. Hopefully the interest level here will make up for the fact that most of them come really rather late…

Endweek News – Colour Me Intrigued, Release Date City and Videos and Trailers

Hey everyone, it is Sunday again and as usual it is time for the News! Last week I epically failed in that I posted the news from the previous two weeks but then completely forgot to post the Colour Me Intrigued, Release Date City and Videos section. That means that actually this week  this part of the Endweek News is actually THREE WEEKS worth of stuff as opposed to just one… Yeah I know, failure at it’s finest… However, the normal Endweek News section will just be the news from the past week and I hope to have that uploaded later today as well! Anyway, enough talk! What has been intriguing and awesome in the last three weeks? Check after the jump to find out!

Endweek News – Awesome Gameplay of Dishonored, Concept Art of Episode 3, some Halo 4 stuff, Meeting the Pyro and the release date of Guild Wars 2

Another week has passed, I hope that for you it was more productive than mine was. The biggest news that you can expect from me this week is that I completed Deus Ex: Human Revolution on Xbox and despite constantly saving and being more careful than a very careful thing I managed to set off a bloody alarm at SOME point during the game without noticing and thus missed out on an extra 100 achievement points for my gamer-score. Honestly, I think that has thrown me into a bad mood and I… Oh you’re here for some REAL news? I forgot that this Deus Ex stuff wasn’t important… So what is important eh? What important shiz has been happiziling?
