MMGaming Top 50 Games – 40 to 31

Inspired by the PC Gamer Top 100 games list here is the continuation of own list of the Best Video Games Ever. MMGaming’s official Top 50 Games.

Just a quick reminder of the rules and requirements for a game to make it into the MMG Top 50: first of all, the games in our Top 50 will naturally only include those games which one of us (me or Tim) have played. They will also include games from literally any platform we’ve had access to across the ages.

In order to belong on the list the game had to more-or-less fit two separate criteria: the games would have to be something which blew us away at the time of playing it, such that it still provokes an emotional response now, but also a game which we think is still very worth playing today. As such, some games which we are trying to provide a list of games which were both brilliant at the time but also have not aged like hot garbage and so their excellence can only be explained through the lens of nostalgia. State of the MMGaming Awards – Year Review *clap clap*

Welcome all to this year’s “MMGaming Awards” post. Although in reality the post this year is going to be rather different than our previous awards posts. For starters, beyond naming our Game of the Year (and maybe having a rant about the games industry) I won’t really be writing out any other awards. Instead, this year this post will function as something of a “State of MMGaming Address” where I will briefly go over where things stand on our site and lives in general. So, rather unfortunately, many game developers will be going home award-less tonight…

Anyway, let’s just JUMP into it! *clap clap*

MMGaming Game Awards 2017

I think that an awards post for each year is a great idea. Having said that I also think that some awarding bodies are dumb as hell. Like doing awards for a year near the start of the year for instance. Well, I wanted to make doubly sure that 2017 was over before posting this year’s MMGaming Awards, which is why it’s getting posted after the mid-point of 2018… Are you buying this…? Continue reading

Prey review – Not to be confused with Prey or Bioshock

Prey 2017 wallpaperIt is perhaps a little unfair that pretty much every single review I’ve seen of Arkane Studio’s Prey 2017 (because why would they want to give it its own name when there was a perfectly fine older IP to reboot) immediately begins by comparing it to other games. One could be forgiven for thinking therefore that it is a hodgepodge of elements from other games, melted down into a single product. It’s touted as yet ANOTHER spiritual successor to System Shock 2 as well as to Bioshock whilst also drawing on elements from Dishonored and Half Life. Continue reading

Dishonored 2 review – Blink and you miss it

Dishonored 2 wallpaperIt doesn’t bother me… I swear! I’ve aged, I’ve grown, I’ve matured. I am both wiser and more benevolent for my years, more accepting of the way others do things even if I’d have done it differently.

Except none of this is true, and GODAMMIT BETHESDA, how hard would it have been to release a version of the game with the PROPER GODAMN SPELLING OF “DISHONOURED”?!

Okay… Seriously now. Serious game review. Yes. Continue reading

The MMGaming Awards – 2016

make-mmg-great-again

2015 was a big year in video games. Several massive releases each of which several were genuinely incredible. Well, rather than sating us, we were only provided with a hunger, nay a NEED, for more… Unfortunately though it seems that the gaming industry’s recovery period is at least a year because 2016 was mostly, let’s face it, pretty disappointing.

I guess it’s only fitting that the games of 2016 would be a bit subpar given how shitty everything else was this year. I mean seriously… This is legit a meme now… 2016 was ACTUALLY cursed? What the heck? Continue reading
