World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

One of the things that always bothered me a little about World of Warcraft was how quickly new stuff seemed to come out. After any patch or expansion came out you would only just be getting into the swing of things when suddenly the next stage was announced and then tested and then released.

Case in point. During my time playing through the cold wastes of Northrend I managed to raid occasionally, but went through guild after guild as one by one they split up, stopped raiding or just stopped playing. So when I finally manage to get a good guild I thought I might finally be able to get to the end-game content. And then Blizzard announces Cataclysm and so I suddenly have a time limit on killing the Lich King before it will become obsolete. Still managed though… SPARTANS!!!

Do you like Warhammer 40K? Do you like MMOs? Will you still be interested in both of these things in two years?

Well then you’re in luck! THQ (the developers behind Space Marine… still waiting on that review Tim!) have announced Warhammer 40K: Dark Millennium, a Warhammer 40K MMO. They have also already stated that it is set for release on March the 13th, 2013, which is a long time enough away for me to make this post and then comfortably forget about it for a little while. So the time is nigh. World of Warcraft Patch 4.3 is due for release into the Public Test Realm within the next few weeks. 4.3 will see the “end” of the Cataclysm expansion as players will be finally pitted against the leader of the Black Dragonflight: Deathwing the Destroyer.

Along with what sounds like a boss fight of truly epic proportions there will be the usual plethora of new stuff typical for a large World of Warcraft content patch.

Guild Wars 2: Player Hosted PvP

If you’ve been reading MMGaming you are probably aware of my fascination and desire for the soon-to-be-released Star Wars: The Old Republic. However, recently my attitude towards it has been taking a bit of a downturn because when you look more closely at the actual gameplay footage (and ignore the nerdgasmic cinematic trailers) the game seems to actually have less going for it than I had originally believed.

In it’s stead I now start to think that rather than SWTOR I would actually rather have Guild Wars 2, and unfortunately I haven’t been making many news posts about it. This is a definite failing on my part as when I look closely at Guild Wars 2 it actually just looks more and more fantastic. So, let’s rectify that shall we?

Drakensang: Einen Deutsch MMORPG

August 28, 2011 1 comment

For those of you confused by the title, “Deutsch” means “German”. And so, while the title may be completely grammatically incorrect in actual German I think it gets across what I was trying to say. I realise it’s not a particularly inspired title but then I think it’s unusual enough when you think about it. After all, how many other German video games can you name?

That’s probably enough about that… Time to actually talk about the game itself! Read more…
