The Secret World gets a release date

Much like the name suggests, Funcom’s MMO The Secret World is something of a mystery to us at MMGaming. Despite being alerted to it by a helpful comment way back when we started up this lovely website news for The Secret World has been few and far between. I’m not even sure how much hype there is about the game or what I should be expecting.

Well except that it’s set in a modern world… Except you fight demons and use magic! Sounds like a plan!

Star Wars: The Old Republic Impressions

Brace yourselves… this is a long one!

A few things first about this before you start reading this Impressions. Over the weekend beta I managed to clock maybe 5 or so hours of play time, I got to level 10, got a companion, a lightsaber and left the starting area. But in a game of the size and scale of The Old Republic this is barely scratching the surface of the content in the game. I mean, add in all the other classes, all the other worlds, the rest of the story and levels, I didn’t even spend more than 5 minutes on the Dark Side so all my experiences comes from the Light Side… Basically this means I only saw a fraction of what the game holds and Tim saw even less. Plus what I did see WAS still in beta so it was buggy and glitchy and not completely finished. As such this will not be a full review and only my impressions formed over my play time.

World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria

One of the things that always bothered me a little about World of Warcraft was how quickly new stuff seemed to come out. After any patch or expansion came out you would only just be getting into the swing of things when suddenly the next stage was announced and then tested and then released.

Case in point. During my time playing through the cold wastes of Northrend I managed to raid occasionally, but went through guild after guild as one by one they split up, stopped raiding or just stopped playing. So when I finally manage to get a good guild I thought I might finally be able to get to the end-game content. And then Blizzard announces Cataclysm and so I suddenly have a time limit on killing the Lich King before it will become obsolete. Still managed though… SPARTANS!!!

Drakensang: Einen Deutsch MMORPG

For those of you confused by the title, “Deutsch” means “German”. And so, while the title may be completely grammatically incorrect in actual German I think it gets across what I was trying to say. I realise it’s not a particularly inspired title but then I think it’s unusual enough when you think about it. After all, how many other German video games can you name?

That’s probably enough about that… Time to actually talk about the game itself! Continue reading
