A Tale of Star Wars Galaxies – Days Gone By

Posted by Nick Axmaker

I'm not super young... definitely not super old yet... but I'm not young anymore and I have realized recently that I'm actually a generation behind today's gamers. While not all of them are this way, this generation is the xbox playing Call of Duty gamers, with hardcore tendencies. Especially with the rise of e-sports (which, when I started playing, was not even a coined term yet), gaming has changed radically over the last years.

So sometimes, I have to think back to what it was like back in the day... and those thoughts are usually tainted with both amazing epic-ness... and enormous annoyances as well.

Song of the Week – Age of Skyrim

Posted by Seb May-Wilson

Seb's favourite female Youtuber, Malukah, is back with more covers of bard songs from Skyrim! This time we've got a double-bill lined up for you song hungry gamers! We'll start with Age of Oppression for any other Stormcloaks amongst you but don't worry we'll follow it up with Age of Aggression for any of thee who support the Empire!

After all, it was never clear who was truly in the right and who was in the wrong in Skyrim!

Archetype – Evolution of Organic Machines

Posted by Nick Axmaker

While this has been out for a bit, I wanted to draw some attention to it, because it is purely awesome and I only found it this morning. And before you ask, no... this is not gaming related in any way (other than perhaps all gamers love battle suits? Or at least I do... not sure which). But... this is a film short made by the same guy who had design decisions in Green Lantern, Planet of the Apes, and Sucker Punch (only the first of which I have actually seen already).

Anyway, you've got to check this one out, I'm pretty sure. It's very, very cool.

Song of the Week – Doomsday

Posted by Seb May-Wilson

In honour of the awesome that was the latest Borderlands 2 trailer I have decided that this weeks batch of wubwub and weekend-inducing tunes will come in the form of Doomsday by Nero (also known as the "Borderlands 2 trailer theme song").

Not only is an absolutely bloody awesome tune that should get you all ready for a night out with the lads but whenever it starts playing the trailer for Borderlands 2 pops into my head and I see explosions and dancing claptraps everywhere. Prepare to joy-puke your face off chaps!

Song of the Week – Zelda Medley

Posted by Seb May-Wilson

Despite my dislike of all things Zelda related I have to admit that this particular medley of tunes from the series of games played masterfully on a violin by one Lindsey Stirling is pretty damned awesome.

It may not be the dance or dubstep you expect from us to help prepare you for the weekend, but it certainly ties in with last week's theme of calm but stirring music! So I suppose we should all break out our Master Swords and turn into wolves and ride some horses and Triforce this bitch up!

Song of the Week – Setting Sail and Coming Home

Posted by Seb May-Wilson

This week we are going all mellow and calming with a live rendition of two of seBastion's pieces of music. That doesn't mean it ain't awesome though! Audio director Darren Korb and vocalist Ashley Barrett play through Setting Sail and Coming Home in a rather lovely rendition of seBastion's music.

Sit back and relax. And maybe consider getting seBastion as it is an absolutely fantastic game (as Tim will attest).

The Battle for Skyrim

Posted by Seb May-Wilson

I thought I'd kick-start today with even more awesome from Skyrim! Using a whole handful of mods an ambitious Youtuber Tyrannicon put together a line up of 500 Draugr, 200 skeletons, 500 Dwarven Warriors, and a dragon plus some heroes and some wraiths all set to absolutely fuck each other up.

It quickly escalates from awesome to full blown legendary and you can check out the video after the jump. Expect magic and explosions and awesome filling your hearts and souls for the rest of the day.

Song of the Week – This is Aperture

Posted by Seb May-Wilson

It is time to get ready for the weekend (fun fun fun?) and in order to get us in the mood we have a new song of the week. This is Aperture, a Portal 2 themed version of This is Halloween from the Nightmare Before Christmas, created by one Harry101UK. This is Aperture? This is AWESOME more like!

Because it is awesome! Not only is the original score by Danny Elfman completely fantastic, but this is also absolutely legendary! Let's mess about with some Portals shall we?

Singles Awareness Day comes to Skyrim

Posted by Seb May-Wilson

Now why you'd want to mix anything as awesome as Skyrim with something as ridiculous as a relationship is beyond me but for those of you who want to try then you're in luck! In fact you can use this as a testing ground for any budding relationships this Singles Awareness Day!

All you do is give your other half one of the awesome Skyrim themed Valentines cards that are after the jump and based on their reaction you decide whether to stick with the relationship. Just saying, if they don't get it they're clearly not keepers...
