An official post on the league of legends forums has stated that the long awaited european server split is finally coming this evening at 11.30pm GMT. The downtime is expected to be around 12 hours.

The split will result in a divide between players from western and eastern europe but will improve server stability vastly. This means no more waiting in hour long queues to log in and no more lagging out when you are actually playing.
