Guild Wars 2: Player Hosted PvP

If you’ve been reading MMGaming you are probably aware of my fascination and desire for the soon-to-be-released Star Wars: The Old Republic. However, recently my attitude towards it has been taking a bit of a downturn because when you look more closely at the actual gameplay footage (and ignore the nerdgasmic cinematic trailers) the game seems to actually have less going for it than I had originally believed.

In it’s stead I now start to think that rather than SWTOR I would actually rather have Guild Wars 2, and unfortunately I haven’t been making many news posts about it. This is a definite failing on my part as when I look closely at Guild Wars 2 it actually just looks more and more fantastic. So, let’s rectify that shall we?

The most recent piece of news about Guild wars is that players will actually be able to host their own PvP battles and servers with their own specific rule sets. This probably will allow for a far greater difference between various PvP battles and I imagine (knowing the gaming world) will end up with various types of battles for casual PvP and for MLG PvP.

As I’ve never even heard of anything like this before (in an MMO anyway) it’s going to be interesting to see how this works out.
