Everybody likes lists which break down extremely complex questions and information into easily digestible and arbitrary chunks. And we’ve sort of been inspired by the PC Gamer Top 100 games list to make our own list of the Best Video Games Ever. Continue reading
2015 was a big year in video games. Several massive releases each of which several were genuinely incredible. Well, rather than sating us, we were only provided with a hunger, nay a NEED, for more… Unfortunately though it seems that the gaming industry’s recovery period is at least a year because 2016 was mostly, let’s face it, pretty disappointing.
I guess it’s only fitting that the games of 2016 would be a bit subpar given how shitty everything else was this year. I mean seriously… This is legit a meme now… 2016 was ACTUALLY cursed? What the heck? Continue reading
Can you feel the anticipation in the air? The excitement? That general tension and jostling for position and prestige which comes along with the Annual MMGaming Awards. Arguably the most prestigious award scheme in existence (because nobody else quite gets it right half the time). As before this post is liable to be a bit late but I personally have always thought it makes more sense to actually post it after the year is over, to give everyone a fair chance. Also, admittedly last year we did not provide an Awards post (and we received several angry letters from EA who thought they had it in the bag for Dragon Age: Inquisition) but this was actually primarily due to my own reluctance to write an awards post for a year in which I had played practically none of the big releases. At the time this was due to my lack of a machine which could play any of the newest games, however, now with a new gaming rig AND a PS4 I suddenly find myself in a position where I can once again start to know what I am talking about.
So while 2014 was a bust, let us speak of it no further and immediately dive into the MMGaming Awards for 2015!
Once again it seems that there were recently rumours that ID Software had cancelled Doom 4. This was coupled with the leaking of, I understand hundreds, of concept art, pictures and graphics all supposedly of Doom 4. Now you might have already heard about either one of these (the leak or the rumours) and wonder why we haven’t covered it yet. Well the reason is quite simple, I just wanted to make sure that I didn’t waste my own time (and yours) with MORE speculation.
And I was in the right, on both counts bizarrely. Doesn’t happen often.
Cancelled already? But I was so excited! I heard about the idea of Doom 4 and my mind was suddenly set ablaze with the possibilities! However it has now been cancelled! God.. I can’t believe it… I only played Doom 3 about 2 years ago and so while, obviously, the graphics didn’t stand up versus current graphics I saw the potential and I bet had I got it when it came out it would’ve scared the fuck out of me (especially as I was about 8…) so I was totally ready to get my fear on. SEB! Hang on… you aren’t being fully honest here…
I’m going to take a shot in the dark here (yeah, look forward to more terrible puns) and guess that the vast majority reading this article have at some point in their lives played something out of the “Unreal Call of Halo 1942: Pacific Crysis” bandwagon. Not surprising really when the FPS genre is probably the most sure-fire (told you) profitable area of the industry right now with an endless stream of remarkably similar games trying to slice out their own little market share from the humongous money filled pie. I wonder how it was baked…
