Halo 4 review – What is this feeling? A lack of disappointment?!

For this review I will be casually ignoring one of the things I always say and think about the video game industry. I have said many times that I dislike franchises which rehash the same thing every year in order to squeeze money from fans with only the barest of changes between games and little to no innovation (read “Call of Duty, Mario and FIFA”). It is something which happens far too often in the mainstream gaming industry: a certain series or type of game receives wide acclaim and fandom and all of sudden that’s all the company ever makes. Halo was a series I loved, but honestly I thought that since Halo 3 the games just went downhill, they essentially became more of the same and just started to become disappointing (admittedly I did enjoy Reach).

With the fact in mind that Halo is a series which has now become one of those franchises with little new ever happening, I still have to say that I really, REALLY liked Halo 4. Reach was the last installment in the Halo Universe which was created by Bungie. Since they left the game has been taken over by 343 Industries (which is essentially a video game company created by Microsoft for the specific purpose of making more things Halo). 343 have had input on other Halo titles but Halo 4 is the first game they have created on their own. And you know what, it is gooood!

Endweek News – Colour Me Intrigued, Release Date City and Videos and Trailers

Hey everyone, it is Sunday again and as usual it is time for the News! Last week I epically failed in that I posted the news from the previous two weeks but then completely forgot to post the Colour Me Intrigued, Release Date City and Videos section. That means that actually this week  this part of the Endweek News is actually THREE WEEKS worth of stuff as opposed to just one… Yeah I know, failure at it’s finest…

However, the normal Endweek News section will just be the news from the past week and I hope to have that uploaded later today as well! Anyway, enough talk! What has been intriguing and awesome in the last three weeks? Check after the jump to find out!

Endweek News – Awesome Gameplay of Dishonored, Concept Art of Episode 3, some Halo 4 stuff, Meeting the Pyro and the release date of Guild Wars 2

Another week has passed, I hope that for you it was more productive than mine was. The biggest news that you can expect from me this week is that I completed Deus Ex: Human Revolution on Xbox and despite constantly saving and being more careful than a very careful thing I managed to set off a bloody alarm at SOME point during the game without noticing and thus missed out on an extra 100 achievement points for my gamer-score. Honestly, I think that has thrown me into a bad mood and I… Oh you’re here for some REAL news? I forgot that this Deus Ex stuff wasn’t important…

So what is important eh? What important shiz has been happiziling?

Endweek News – Diablo patches, Updates and Release Dates and not really very much happening

It is unfortunate that I left at the most inopportune moment for a holiday… I left two weeks ago right in the middle of E3 and thus I missed out on most of what was going on AND I wasn’t able to post anything about it. I mean I also wasn’t here for last week’s news but that seems less important in comparison to learning about E3. However I am back now and I will once again dispense wisdom and knowledge to the masses every Sunday (or thereabouts) in the form of news of the world of video games! I might even summon the courage to look back a couple of weeks and sift through all the various updates and exciting things from E3 to give you our own highlights of this years expo… But that is just as possible to not happen, we will have to wait and see.

It’s an interesting point as well that with the massive frenzy of news that was E3 the video game world has quietened down a little bit recently as they try and take a few deep breaths to steady themselves. I can understand really, the build-up to E3 followed by the massive out-pouring of news… Well I’m surprised there’s really any news at all already! But let’s see what’s been going on shall we?
