Dwarf Fortress Diary – Zustashzuglar Part 1

Posted by Nick Axmaker

Well, for every single person’s life, there exists one or more elements which are large challenges, dragons to be slain, princesses to be rescued. One such hardship for myself is that of the game, Dwarf Fortress. Dwarf Fortress and I have had several touslings throughout the course of my life and neither have ended well for myself. I can’t ever quite keep with a fortress throughout its life span and there’s a large LARGE amount of the game that I’ve never seen because of it.

This time shall be different. I’ve decided to take a giant step towards conquering my foe and finish a fortress all the way through to the bitter end. To that goal, I’ve also decided to start writing about my adventures in this fortress for your enjoyment and perusal. So look forward to future updates upon these poor dwarves’ adventures.

So, come along... let us begin, shall we?

Realm of the Mad God – Illegitimate Child of so many Genres

Posted by Nick Axmaker

The one thing that this particular day and age has in spades is free to play MMOs. Many of them are similar and the market is pretty much entirely glutted with games that model after free to play Korean style MMOs which are heavy on grind and high on micro-transactions. However, to find something unique in this market is always a treat, and that's really what Realm of the Mad God is... unique.

Warface Trailers and New Screenshots

Posted by Seb May-Wilson

While perhaps not as innovative as Binary Domain (see the previous post) Crytek's shooter Warface which has been in development for some time now does look really, REALLY good. Plus, this is going to be a free-to-play online game rather than a story based, squad-based shooter. I think with this in the works and it looking so damn good Modern Warfare 3 ought to go into a corner somewhere and quietly eat it's heart out...

Anyway you should definitely check after the jump for some brand new screenshots of the game and for a snippet of the Alpha gameplay footage. Which actually looks astounding as well despite the footage having been made in 2010! I think Battlefield 3 might have to go eat it's heart in a corner as well...

Trust me, it does look THAT awesome...

A Walk in the Dark – Sidescrolling has never felt this emotional

Posted by Seb May-Wilson

What we have here is a trailer for an upcoming sidescroller called Walk in the Dark (it features gameplay footage) which actually did leave me feeling oddly emotional after watching it. The combination of sad music and creepy graphics just give it an impressively eerie feel, even if the gameplay itself doesn't look all that special.

With a release date of sometime this year, this is another indie game that might be worth checking out folks. Check it out after the jump.

MMGaming’s War on the Wall of Flesh!

Posted by Seb May-Wilson

A while ago I joined Tim in a game of Terraria on his world. Tim was actually a reasonable way into game and knows a hell of a lot about the game. Whereas I was a noob who had played about 15 minutes of the awesome game in total.

Tim, despite being a boss, was however in need of a bit of help taking down an absolutely massive and difficult boss in the game called The Wall of Flesh. The Wall, once summoned covers the whole up and down distance of the map and you have to constantly move away from it while slowly whittling down it's massive health store.

Skyrim Review

Posted by Seb May-Wilson

This review is quite simply born of necessity. Both me and Tim have played Skyrim and it won our 2011 Game of the Year Award. Really though it's hard to write something about the game that hasn't been said already. Because it's just so damned easy to rave and drool over Skyrim. Hell, if you need to read this to make your decision, allow me to prevent you from having to bother to scroll the read the rating at the bottom. Skyrim is quite simply the best game I have ever played.
