Why Wildstar?

MMORPG

If you’ve read the start of my recent Retrospectacle on World of Warcraft then you might understand that both Tim and I were big time fans of Blizzard’s MMO. We loved that game and everything about it and both of us, at one point or another, reached the end-game raiding content (even getting quite far at times). Both of us also quit for similar reasons, and none of those reasons were that we were fed up of the game. The simple fact was that it devoured our life, free time and money (money which we could not spare at Uni) and so we quit (him a good two years before me). Continue reading

Seb’s Skyrim Journal Part 8 – Nothing I can do?

Welcome back to Seb’s Journal of his adventures in Skyrim where I have the intention of doing ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING that the game has to offer. These articles will be of some of the best or most amusing experiences I have in the game and I will hopefully be coming out with them fairly regularly. If you are interested you can see where I left off last time here.

Tolfdir has managed to bring the giant glowing orb from Saarthal back to the College and it is sitting right in the centre of Hall of Elements. I don’t fully understand how they managed to get the thing, considering that it is bloody huge, all the way from there to here without even a giant orb shaped hole where the door used to be but I decided not to dwell on it. Tolfdir informs me that this some have started calling this thing the “Eye of Magnus” which means nothing to me but seems to hold some significance to him. I inform him that I succeeded in retrieving the books for the Library and that one of them seems to hold some relevance to the orb. Honestly that involved too much reading for me so I just lied and told him I had read it and let him tall me what the Eye was all about.

Seb’s Skyrim Journal Part 6 – A slow but sure return to form

I originally started my diary of my adventures in Skyrim waaay back near the start of January this year with the intention of resuming it over Easter and Summer breaks. I don’t quite know how but during both of those periods I spent only a little time on this, one of the best games ever made. I did spend some time on it, but only in dribs and drabs, not quite enough for a diary entry. I am however pleased to say that since my return to University this year (where I now have access to an Xbox in my flat) I have properly started to get back into Skyrim with the intention of doing ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING that the game has to offer. These articles will be of some of the best or most amusing experiences I have in the game and I will hopefully be coming out with them fairly regularly. If you are interested you can see where I left off last time here.

Skyrim – The Siege of Markarth

In order to make up for the seriousness of the last post, after all we don’t like to be serious in the Gaming business, here is another epic Skyrim battle created by Tyrannicon for the Skyrim Machinima theatre. Named “The Siege of Markarth” the video is 8 minutes long and just as epic and awesome as the last one, definitely worth a look.

Even if you aren’t into Skyrim…

Scrolls Finally Sorted

You may recall from a while back that Bethesda were suing Notch and Mojang over the fact that Notch was intending to call his new game “Scrolls”. Bethesda believed that the name Scrolls was too similar to their own Elder Scrolls series and were worried that us foolish plebs wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

Well Mojang won the initial foray into court and so for the time being could keep the name Scrolls for their game.
