Diablo III – First Impressions

With the open beta now finished the release date could not come sooner. For those of you that managed to get a taste of the beta you probably feel the same way, but for those that didn’t get around to playing it I’m here to help. My opinion should be taken with a pinch of salt as I haven’t actually played either of the previous games. With this is mind I won’t be able to make any comparisons to the previous games. Without further delay I bring to you my impressions of Diablo III. Continue reading

Happy Birthday XBox

Today Microsoft celebrate the 10th birthday of the release of the XBox in Europe. As I understand the American birthday was sometime last November. This celebrates the launch of the original big black XBox on the 15th of November in North America and the 14th of March in Europe.

If you head on over to the official Microsoft XBox website, Microsoft have constructed a timeline from all the way back in the year 2000 when the XBox was officially announced.

Game BAFTA’s

The European chain of stores Game is currently running a British Academy Video games Awards, or BAVTA! Well actually it’s called a BAFTA… but the point stands. Anyway, as part of this they have a massive online poll running to choose what is going to be the Game of the Year of 2011. Anyone can vote in this (or at least anyone in the UK) and you can vote right now at the BAFTA page. So a video game of the year chosen by the people!

I’m already looking forward to the outcome!

A period of silence

Hey folks just a bit of news about me personally (Seb) which will affect MMGaming just a little in the next couple of weeks. As you are possibly aware, if you keep up to date with us and any other gaming news sites, earlier this week (on the 14th to be precise) Crusader Kings 2 was released by Paradox Interactive. As well as that the week before (on the 10th) Europe saw the release of Kingdom’s of Amalur: Reckoning by 38 Studios and Big Huge Games.

Mass Effect 3 save files – Keep them too!

Associate producer for Mass Effect 3, Mike Gamble, said in a recent interview with Gamerzines that it “might not be a bad idea” to hang on to your saved games for Mass Effect 3 after completing it.

Naturally this has fired up the rumour mill into a frenzy, especially as he didn’t really go into specifics. It could just be so you could play some planned DLC for the game but, what if there are more Mass Effect games planned. Maybe games that won’t have Shepard as the protagonist but the decisions you make as Shepard will continue to define and change the galaxy beyond even his games (as would make sense).

Game of Thrones: Riverspring Trailer

The title here says it all. It’s a trailer for the upcoming Game of Thrones RPG and it introduces a city called Riverspring which is ruled over by a family called the Sarwycks.

Wait hang on, they’ve actually decided to introduce MORE characters to the Song of Ice and Fire? And a whole town that DOESN’T appear on any maps of Westeros so far. I would’ve thought that with hundreds of characters who aren’t main characters in the books to choose from and a whole world of detailed cities and towns, they wouldn’t need to create a whole new town and family House for it.

Happy Winter-een-Mas from MMGaming!

As defined by Urban Dictionary: Winter-een-Mas is a gamer’s holiday. The Winter-een-Mas season lasts all of January, but the holiday is the last week of January, January 25-31. It emphasizes the companionship of gamers. However, gift-giving is not recommended, as it may ruin the holiday spirit. Small, handmade gifts are quite alright, though.

Celebrate Winter-een-mas by playing videogames with your friends, by wearing interesting gaming clothing/accesories, and especially by writing letters of thanks to those wonderful developers who make the games!
