My Thoughts On: Runers – I hunger for magic!

Runers by Let’s Get Kraken Games is a top-down, indie, rogue-like adventure game, which makes it absolute nerd-bait because us folk love it when someone says “indie” or “rogue-like” or “permadeath”. Wait, hang on, no, I hate it when people say “permadeath”. Godammit! Anyway, it’s a pretty fun little game which takes a lot after the immensely popular Binding of Issac but also then adds the element of spellcrafting with over 250 unique spells available for discovery and usage within the game.

It’s a game that I personally feel is best described by it’s gameplay, as there really is no other element to it, and so I figured that instead of reviewing it I would simply create a My Thoughts On of the game so that I could voice my few criticisms and raise whatever points I could about the game whilst also showing you as much of the gameplay as I can given that I cannot play the game for shit. Anyway, check it out after the jump!

Seb’s Skyrim Journal Part 9 – I’m kind of a big deal…

Welcome back to Seb’s Journal of his adventures in Skyrim where I have the intention of doing ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING that the game has to offer. These articles will be of some of the best or most amusing experiences I have in the game and I will hopefully be coming out with them fairly regularly. If you are interested you can see where I left off last time here. Continue reading

Endweek News

You will have, obviously noticed that last week we had no news on Sunday and that this week we actually had no news on Wednesday either. And there are very good reasons for both of these things. As you might be aware I am in the middle of my exam period and I’m finding it a little more difficult to make the time to do the news. But don’t worry, after next week things ought to return to pretty much normal as both me and Tim will be finished.

And so we’ll need to come up with an excuse other than “We are lazy sons-of-bitches!”

Also, we are still playing around with our new “4 posts per week” system and have decided to only have one session of news on most weeks. While you might still see some Midweek News at some point in the future, for now we are going to be doing two reviews a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays. Anyway, “reasons” over! Let’s see what’s been happening in the world of video games for the last two weeks. Continue reading

Kingdom’s of Amalur: Reckoning Review-pressions

I think that before I go into any great detail about Kingdom’s of Amalur: Reckoning  I should explain that this is an awkward mixture of both a review and an impressions. You see I have experienced the majority of gameplay that KoA has to offer, but where it apparently scores a lot of points is in it’s story and unfortunately I’m only about 5 hours into the main story (there are A LOT of side quests). Thus while this will function as our official MMGaming review of KoA it also will be open for change should the story impress me enough to change it.

Okay now that’s out of the way I can say another thing. I’ve been thinking of and planning this article since I was about 6 hours in at level 7. I’m now around 16 hours in and level 15. However in that space of time my opinions of the game have changed rather dramatically. I put this down to the whole “no pain no gain” clause that is inherent with large singleplayer RPGs. You have to spend a fair bit of time getting into your character and the story and the game world before you actually properly start to enjoy yourself. And it took a little bit longer than expected in KoA. However I persevered and now I’m pleased to say I AM into it!

The Secret World gets a release date

Much like the name suggests, Funcom’s MMO The Secret World is something of a mystery to us at MMGaming. Despite being alerted to it by a helpful comment way back when we started up this lovely website news for The Secret World has been few and far between. I’m not even sure how much hype there is about the game or what I should be expecting.

Well except that it’s set in a modern world… Except you fight demons and use magic! Sounds like a plan!

The Battle for Skyrim

I thought I’d kick-start today with even more awesome from Skyrim! Using a whole handful of mods an ambitious Youtuber Tyrannicon put together a line up of 500 Draugr, 200 skeletons, 500 Dwarven Warriors, and a dragon plus some heroes and some wraiths all set to absolutely fuck each other up.

It quickly escalates from awesome to full blown legendary and you can check out the video after the jump. Expect magic and explosions and awesome filling your hearts and souls for the rest of the day.

Kingdom’s of Amalur: Reckoning – radio silence much?

38 Studios in conjunction with Big Huge Games and EA today released Kingdom’s of Amalur: Reckoning in North America and it will be coming to stores in Europe on the 10th. If you haven’t heard anything about it it’s a massive fantasy RPG which looks to have gameplay similar to that of Dragon Age (in the position of the camera at least).

Supposedly your character starts of as a “blank slate” and, like Fable you can level up whatever talents and skills you want. Also apparently the game is absolutely massive with well over 200 hours of gameplay. In fact supposedly there are 200 hours of gameplay in doing a speed run of the game, where you already know how to do everything and have done it before.
