Crusader Kings 2 by those lovely chaps at Paradox Interactive has been out for well over a year now and already has several packs of DLC available for purchase. It is a game in which you take control of a specific Dynasty in the Medieval World and you must get your heirs, your descendants to the top of the pecking order over a period of hundreds of years. You start of as a single character and upon their death you take control of your next direct heir. The game has no win function really but the idea is, as it is any real-time strategy game, to rule the world and become Emperor of everything. The way you lose is, unlike any other RTS, not based on whether your Empire and the people you rule are still around but is instead based on whether your Dynasty survives. And if all of your descendants die out or fall out of power then it is game over and you get to see how much impact you had on the ancient world rated alongside other notable figures. Release Date city
There are two pretty big release dates to inform all you folks about and both are for March next year.
First up is Gears of War Judgement, the next Gears game which will be a prequel for the whole series and will follow Damon Baird and his own crew of four and has been set for a 19th of March release date by Epic Games.
The other big release was revealed on the Amazon UK website which states that Splinter Cell: Blacklist will be coming to the UK on the 29th of March next year.
You’d think that with only one news post per week I’d be able to keep on schedule and keep you lovely people supplied with lots of interesting news about awesome games! Unfortunately it seems that the words “epic fail” are rather appropriate here because, once again, last week I missed the Endweek News deadline and had to shift the information I had gathered into this week!
Anyway! Enough remorse and sorrow! The news is important and I shall supply it to you post-haste! This week I’m also trying out a little bit of a different news system in that I will be making TWO posts! Now if you want you can check either one or the other of my news posts, but know that they contain different things. This news post is all about individual news articles. New games, new stuff, updates and DLC, it’s all the big pieces of news about individual games. The other news post (to follow shortly) will contain release dates, all the videos and the “Colour me Intrigued” bit where I will be talking about a number of games which have piqued my interest recently.
So… Shall we get started!
I write this news post in the early hours of the morning as it was meant to be up yesterday. I do promise that I will try and be more punctual about these but the end of lectures and classes at University have put me in a holiday/lazy mood. Which when combined with my inherent laziness is difficult to overcome. However, let’s crack on and do the news from the last couple of days.
What is going on in the gaming world?
The title here says it all. It’s a trailer for the upcoming Game of Thrones RPG and it introduces a city called Riverspring which is ruled over by a family called the Sarwycks.
Wait hang on, they’ve actually decided to introduce MORE characters to the Song of Ice and Fire? And a whole town that DOESN’T appear on any maps of Westeros so far. I would’ve thought that with hundreds of characters who aren’t main characters in the books to choose from and a whole world of detailed cities and towns, they wouldn’t need to create a whole new town and family House for it.
I was so damn tempted to make some joke about the Stark’s motto “Winter is Coming”. However when you look at the fact that pretty much EVERY gaming website has made some play on it already it struck me that this particular twist on it was the most relevant thing I could come up with!
Anyway the RPG by Cyanide Studios now has a new trailer and some of the details of the game have been announced. And at the end of the trailer it DOES say “Winter is Coming” thus the whole thing about jokes…
While we may not have mentioned it much yet, here at MMGaming we are all set to get into the Christmas spirit! Unfortunately for me my Christmas spirit won’t really kindle until after my last exam on the 20th. And Tim’s will only get started a little earlier as his last exam is on the 15th. But fear not we are more than looking forward to Christmas. Or at least I am… Christmas has never really lost it’s appeal to me…
